When we first played those songs, people would do this [leans back in chair]. I mean, literally, if there was any room to get back, most people got back—but they didn’t leave. And some people—the type that later became called “stoners”—or “sluts”! Those were our two big fanbases. And then a few “intellectuals”. They’d come forward and the others would peek in horror from the back of the place. And the shit sounded heavy!
